High
above the ski centre at Røldal is normally a quiet and peaceful place,
but for one weekend a year all that changes - with music, a helicopter,
hundreds of skiing or boarding spectators and some of the most skillful
freeriders flying down an incredibly steep mountain side. This is not a sport for beginners. Pre-qualifying is open to anyone (the day before the main event), but it takes skill and experience - as well as courage - to plan your route down. When : Wednesday 14 - Sunday 18th April 2010 Where : Røldal skisenter Website : http://roldalfreeride.no/ The freeriders are both men and women, and from scandinavia - especially Norway - plus visitors from Austria, Germany, the USA and Australia Distance from Stavanger: 180 km (plus 1 ferry) Distance from Haugesund: 135 km |

Park
at Røldal skisenter, take the chairlift to to top, then either walk
up or take the highest T-bar lift and traverse across to the challenge site. Kids Verdict: This is not really something for younger children to enjoy - it is not easy getting up, they may not then want to just sit and watch, and you might not want to give them crazy ideas.
