Haugesund ferry port

Not many cars get on or off at Haugesund, but it can be a good start or finish point for a car touring holiday, especially for Hardanger and to the mountains and skiing areas in the winter.

Basic information

The car ferry port in Haugesund is about 500 metres from the centre of town, on the island of Risøy - go over the bridge from the town centre to reach it.

Transport to / from:

It is about 1 km to the bus terminal, 500 metres to the fast boat terminal on Smedasundet (the harbour and waterway through the centre of town). It is a short drive to the E39 or E134 roads, with the Ryfylke to the south and Hardanger to the north.

Ferry lines and routes:

Fjord line operates a route to Hanstholm Denmark via Egersund.

DFDS Seaways now operates the ferry to Newcastle England via Stavanger or Bergen - Fjordline gave up the route in October 2006. The former "Fjord Norway" has been renovated and renamed "M.S. Princess of Norway".
