Jernaldergarden - Iron Age Farm at Ullandhaug
Jernaldergarden
is a re-constructed iron-age farm at Ullandhaug, just 3 kilometers from
central Stavanger. You can look around, and on Sundays there are often
demonstrations of various old skills and food cooked on the open fire. |

Sited
not far from modern blocks of apartments, this iron-age site has been largely
restored. Long buildings for people and animals, with stone walls and turf
roof. Sunday is often the best day to come, when various old skills are
demonstrated and you can try them out yourself. Children love making
and decorating clay pots, or making wool thread, for example. There
may also be food cooked on the open fire. There are good views from
the hill just above the farm.
A few minutes walk away is Ullandhaug tower with great views for many miles around; Sormarka woodland that has good paths and orienteering; and the botanical gardens (Botanisk Hage).
