Mosvatnet circular walkMosvatnet is a beautiful lake close to the centre of Stavanger, popular with walkers, runners and cyclists. The 3km lighted trail goes around the edge of the lake, passing the Rogaland art museum and Mosvangen campsite. The 4km folkesti (county footpath) route crosses the footbridge into the woodland on the other side of the motorway, passes the outdoor swimming pool then rejoins the lakeside trail. |

The lake is quite shallow and was used as a drinking supply for the city
until 1931. There are plenty of ducks (and seagulls!) to feed along the
way. Close by are the First Hotel Alstor and Rica Forum Hotel If the weather is cold enough during the winter, the lake becomes an enormous skating rink (after safety checks). To extend the walk a little further divert from the woodland folkesti to the tower (Valandstarnet) at the top of the hill. Great views over the town and sea. Map reference:
OR - drive to Gamlingen swimming Stavanger Idrettshall (near
art museum with fee charged) Distance from Stavanger: 2 km |
