Kulturhuset - the Culture House - in the centre of town with library and cinema

lots of nooks and crannies to explore This shopping area is so nicely compact, easy and interesting to walk around, if only to window shop or simply look at the buildings. It is approximately a circular area with the town square and modern Culture House (library, cinema and childrens' museum) right in the middle.

Scattered at different ends are also three small, very nice shopping malls, Arkaden, Blaa Magasin and Torget Terrasse.

Saturday mornings are typically very lively and festive especially in the summer. Check shop opening times, especially Saturdays; they may be much shorter than at home. Shops are closed on Sunday in Norway.
