Hardanger Music FestivalHardanger
Music Festival is an annual Norwegian event of classical, and modern music,
mainly chamber music, and including some folk music. It is based
at Ullensvang, with its wonderful
hotel, at Loftus on Sørfjord, in the Hardanger region of west
Norway. Edvard Grieg used to stay and work here - inspired by the amazing
views. |

Hardanger
is famous in Norway and across the world for the amazing views around the
fjords, for the fruit orchards, and for the music - especially with fiddle,
or violin, with instruments being made here. The Hardanger Musikkfest is held in late May or early June each year, when the blossom is falling, and the temperatures are rising. The
venues are varied - from the Hardangerhallen and garden of Ullensvang
Hotel, to the church in Kinsarvik, and the (hydro electric) turbine
hall at Tyssedal. Waterfalls, boat trips, and journeys through beautiful
countryside between concerts.
