Jaeren farm landscape

The Jaeren farmland is a pretty and unique part of Norway. The rolling landscape is open and has a fresh atmosphere. Beside the coast, the fields slope down to pebbled or sandy beaches. Several salmon rivers meander through the Jaeren farmland. Beautiful stone walls are everywhere. Fresh produce is for sale at many of the farms.

A trip through this area is a real cultural experience. There are many old farms and farm museums (with activities for children) to visit. Along the Figgjo river are Stone Age remains.

Today the area has agricultural reasearch centres and is a centre of agricultural competence. Indeed, it is a world leader in the manufacture of agricultural equipment.

Along the coast there are small boat harbours with active fishing boats around, like Kvassheim.

This area is ideal for a car tour or for cycling. The North Sea Cycle Route follows along the coast and there are many cycling trips inland.

The lake Froylandsvatnet to the north of Bryne offers several walking and cycling opportunities.
